Log Off The Lies - Join the Digital Resistance
The planet is on fire. The algorithm is fanning the flames.
Over the last few years, the United Nations has been warning about the climate crisis, calling it a “Code Red for humanity.” In July 2025 the UN warned that disinformation - shared primarily on social media - is hindering progress on dealing with climate breakdown. The message is clear, our earth’s life systems are literally falling apart and without urgent action, our planet faces irreversible collapse.
Big Tech platforms like YouTube, Meta, and X are not just “neutral” spaces - they are making money by amplifying climate disinformation and greenwashing, while silencing truth and delaying action. This isn’t an accident. It’s by deliberate.
Every lie they push, every fossil fuel ad they run, every fake “debate” they recommend keeps us scrolling - while the world burns around us.
That’s why we’re launching #𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗟𝗶𝗲𝘀: an Africa-wide digital resistance campaign to expose how Big Tech is profiting off climate chaos and to demand real accountability.
We are declaring a 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 and calling on the United Nations and The African Union to:
- 🚫 Ban all fossil fuels advertising on social media
- 📝 Ensure full transparency from Big Tech on policies to stop the spread of climate disinformation
- ⚖️ Enforce social media penalties for accounts that spread climate lies
- ❌ Stop ad revenue for climate fake news outlets
This is about survival. This is about justice. This is about putting facts back on our feeds, saying no to lies on our screens.
Join the movement. Speak out. Share the truth.
Because if the algorithm is broken, it’s up to us to break the cycle and demand social media companies.
